Briony's Top Cheese Storage Hacks

These simple tricks will prolong the life of you cheese:

Sugar Cube Hack:

• Once you’ve opened a pack of cheese, transfer it to a food storage container. Pop two sugar cubes inside the container and make sure it is tightly sealed.

• This will prevent the smell from filling the rest of you fridge, but most importantly, the cubes will absorb excess moisture, and prevent the cheese from sweating and help keep it fresher for longer.

• Should the sugar cubes melt over time, simply wipe the container clean and replenish the container with another 2 cubes of sugar.

White Vinegar Hack:

• Lightly soak a piece of kitchen roll in white vinegar. Wrap the cheese in the kitchen roll and seal in a zip lock bag. This will stop any bacteria from growing.

• It won't affect the taste of the cheese and will prolong the life of the cheese for up to an extra 6 weeks.

Storing Feta Cheese in Brine:

• Once you’ve opened a pack of Feta, transfer it to a jar (an old jam jar works well). Leave whole or cut into chunks.

• Make a simple brine solution of 2 tsp salt and dissolve in enough cold water to completely submerge the Feta.

• Once dissolved, pour the brine solution over the Feta. This preserves the feta for up to an extra 3 weeks.
